Washington Filmworks Internship Opportunity

Washington Filmworks Internship Opportunity! Washington Filmworks is seeking an Intern! www.washingtonfilmworks.org

Washington Filmworks (WF), is a not-for-profit 501 (c) (6) organization that offers production assistance to commercials, television and feature films shooting in Washington State as well as manages the production incentive program.  Currently, WF is seeking a part-time Intern with a minimum 3-month commitment of 15 hours per week.  Prior background in film not required, but individuals must be self-motivated with strong communication, computer, writing, and organizational/research skills.

Applicants must be enrolled in a post-secondary educational program leading to an undergraduate or graduate degree and in good standing at their college or university.  Students must retain their status until the end of the internship.     

Detailed Job Responsibilities Include:
-       Draft/Compose letters to legislatures
  -       Development and management of social websites (Facebook, Twitter)
  -       Maintain office website 
-       Conduct Internet research on media/industry news/national incentive updates and information
-       Aid staff at industry events
-       Manage in-house database
-       General office administration

Interactive Developer Intern

Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) seeks a professional, innovative and detailed individual for our Interactive Developer Intern. If you are looking for an opportunity to gain valuable hands on experience then this position is for you!

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the creation, programming, and animation of interactive content for websites

  • Develop low-fidelity functional design prototypes to demonstrate proof of concepts

  • Assist with the deployment and maintenance of Flash animations and applications for websites and desktop applications (typically insertion into PowerPoint, CD-ROM duplication, or standalone executable)




Qualifications:

  • Interactive design/interface design experience

  • Experience building projects in Adobe Flash CS3 or CS4

  • Experience using Flash Action Script 2 and 3(preferred)

  • Experience using browser-based alternatives, such as jQuery UI effects – and be able to determine when to use them

  • Experience with data-driven Flash using XML and/or dynamic data connections

  • Understanding of object-oriented programming

  • Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse group of people

  • Ability to produce well-organized files and easy-to-read code for review

  • Must have a portfolio or other way to demonstrate previous work

*          Data quality initiatives

*          Generating documentation and company-wide communications
 

Candidates must meet the following requirements:

*          Writing SQL queries

*          Developing Python scripts

2.        UX Intern

The UX team touches all BlueKai products and websites.  They facilitate BlueKai's success by creating interfaces that: enable clients to find and purchase data, translate complex auction dynamics for customers, and increase usability of internal tools.
 
The position has the following responsibilities

*          Designing work flows

*          Generating wire frames

*          Working with the UX team to create html prototypes
 Candidates must meet the following requirements:

*          Well organized and self-motivated

*          Experience using Photoshop and Fireworks

*          Knowledge of HTML, CSS and Javascript

*          Ability to commute to Bellevue, WA

*          Project management experience

Web Site Content Integrator (San Francisco)

Job Objective:
This job reports to the Comparison Shopping Product Owner and is responsible for driving revenue through a deep understanding of consumer shopping behavior on multiple shopping sites across the web.

Summary of Duties and Experience


  • Review global web sites and determine commerce-oriented scenarios that create value for consumer

  • Drive quality traffic to comparison shopping engine partners, helping them achieve their business goals


  • Experience, Skills and Qualifications:

  • Full time position, BA preferred

  • Familiarity with the internet, particularly ecommerce and search

  • Comfort with managing a business based on data, tracking results, and adjusting as necessary

  • Proficient in Excel

  • Technical expertise a plus (coding skills in C#, SQL)

  • Excellent English language skills (oral and written), with foreign language skills a plus (French, Spanish, Italian, German)

  • Self-starter who enjoys learning a role and then being trusted to get it done with minimal supervision

  • Team player who’s ready to work in a dynamic environment.



Working Conditions:

The job conditions for this position are in a standard office setting. Employees in this position use PC on an on-going basis throughout the day. Assist in the creation and maintenance of training products.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSBILITIES
• Writing Flash programs and developing Flash activities in ActionScript
• Understanding SCORM and AICC procedures and documentation
• Testing, debugging, and implementation of third party courses

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
• AA degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Must have solid understanding of Object Oriented programming, Javascript, HTML, XML and AJAX. Experience with Flash, Actionscript, and version control systems is highly desirable.

Summer Internships w/ Center for Civic Engagement

Below are listed several organizations/agencies which have expressed interest in having intern assistance with their websites and/or other technical efforts this summer (and/or beyond). Most of these may be able to be implemented from a distance so that you would not need to be geographically located in the specific community.

Please review the list and let me know as soon as possible, if you would like to pursue any of the options. If so, we will arrange for you to contact the organization and explore the details of the specific work desired and to see if it meets with your personal academic goals and areas of expertise. You would be welcome to talk with more than one.

1. Council on Aging and Human Services (Pullman) – Construct a new web site for the organization AND teach the staff to use it going forward.

2. King County Conservation District – Develop interactive database for Conservation Districts training opportunities.

3. College Hill Association (Pullman) – Construct website designed by Fall 09 DTC 477 students.

4. Franklin County Extension (Tri Cities) – revise website.

5. 2 Degrees NW (Moscow) – design a website.

6. Snohomish County Extension (Everett) – update website, including addition of blogs and videos.

7. Community Child Care Center (Pullman) – revamp/modernize website.
